Tournaments
Our club holds a tournament every Tuesday evening at the Coast Cafe in the Embassy Suites in La Jolla. Please arrive by 6 p.m. to enter -- play begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Tournaments are open to everyone. There is no membership fee.

The tournament entry fee is $20. $10 goes into the prize pool, $10 goes into a coupon with which you can use at the Coast Cafe. There is an optional side pool, which costs $10, winner take all. The tournament is single elimination, with no consolation. However, if you get eliminated, you have the option to reenter with a $10 buyback. All matches are 7 points in length.

Starting in 2006, the club will keep $5 from each prize pool. This money will be used to fund the club throughout the year.
The top three win money and receive master points, based on the following schedule for 16 player brackets and a $155 prize pool: Sometimes there are enough players and buybacks to fill a 32 player bracket. The top three win money and receive master points, based on the following schedule for 32 player brackets and a $315 prize pool: At the discretion of the tournament director, and according to the schedule below, the use of clocks may be imposed.

If the tournament fills, we will run 8-player overflow tournaments and/or 4-player blitzes. The entry fee for either will be $10 with 7 point matches.

For an 8-player overflow tournament, the top two will win money and receive master points, based on the following schedule:

For a 4-player blitz, the entry fees are returned as winner takes all, with the winner receiving two master points.
